National Project Director
Besong Christelle Engowei is an accomplished project coordinator and peace advocate based in Cameroon. With a Master's degree in International Law from the University of Buea, she brings extensive expertise in promoting civilian protection, humanitarian relief, and strategic advocacy initiatives related to the ongoing Anglophone crisis. Through her work with organizations such as MDDT CAMEROON, Reachout, HUMFRIE, Bodytalk International, and as Secretary General of YALDA-UB, Ms. Engowei has coordinated regional symposiums, led efforts in peacebuilding and conflict resolution, and advocated tirelessly for issues such as peace, youth empowerment, gender equality, and human rights. Her volunteer experience also includes facilitating important data collection for projects addressing gender-based violence with LUKMEF NGO. Dedicated to creating positive change, Ms. Engowei currently serves as project lead for MDDT Cameroon-Open Society Africa's strategic advocacy efforts on security sector governance reform and the protection of civilians in Cameroon's Anglophone regions. With a strong commitment to international law, she strives to promote stability, justice and human dignity through her diverse peacebuilding initiatives
